Highlights of this release include:
Linux kernel 6.12 with improved hardware support
Expanded architecture compatibility, including riscv64
Stronger security hardening and protections against modern exploits
Long-term support until 2028 with extended security coverage through 2030
If you are running Debian 11 or 12, now is a good time to begin planning your upgrade to Debian 13. Doing so ensures long-term stability, better performance, and access to the latest security improvements.
